IASD President and CEO
Dr. K. Habib Khan is the co-founder, President and CEO of IASD. He brings to the Academy over thirty years of professional excellence and work experience. He served with distinction with several US Government Agencies; the US Agency for International Development (USAID) where he was First Secretary of Development and Principal Education Officer in South Africa and Ghana, in the US Peace Corps as Country Director in Sierra Leone, and as a Staff Psychologist for the Department of the Interior.
Dr. Khan's accomplishments include working as educational administrator at the Central Office of public schools, Stillwater, Minnesota, and as Center Director for the Educational Cooperative Unit (ECSU), a consortium of 25 public schools in Windom, Minnesota.
Dr. Khan served as a member of the Minnesota International Trade Commission, a member of the Board of Governors for the Council of Exceptional Children (CEC), as Senior Vice President of the World Space Foundation, Washington DC, and was member and treasurer for the Board of Education for American International Schools in Accra, Ghana.
His most recent positions include Chief Academic Officer of Stratford University, Provost/Executive Vice President for Virginia International University (VIU), and Chancellor of the University of Northern Virginia (UNVA). Dr. Khan served as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Fairfax, Virginia for seven years. Since 2013, he has served as Senior Advisor for International Programs for the World Institute on Disability (WID), a well-respected non-profit advocacy institution for People with Disabilities (PWD) based in Berkeley, California.
In addition to his current responsibilities as President & CEO of IASD, Dr. Khan is serving as Chief Administrator for United States Academic Decathlon (USAD) International Programs. In September 2014, the USAD Board of Directors executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with IASD authorizing Dr. Khan to spearhead the USAD Global Initiative to expand USAD Programs worldwide.
Membership in Professional Associations
Publications: Dr. Khan has been published in over 15 articles that were published in referenced journals and two textbook chapters addressing effective leadership styles and the positive healing effects and speedy recovery of patients realized by demonstrated compassionate behavior on the part of health care service providers.
